As the days of summer wind down I already have that fall feeling. When I woke up this morning (@ 7:45, because some little one was quietly playing in her crib!) it already felt like a fall morning. I thought the same thing yesterday afternoon even though it is still ninety degrees here. It never fails for me to be done with summer after the fourth of July. B and I were just talking last night about how fickle I can be, because as soon as the New Year hits I am ready for warm weather. This got me thinking this morning about all the things I should savor about the final days of summer...
1. Barefeet...I think I get this from my mom, because I always remember her loving to not have to wear shoes. It's just so easy to slip on a pair of flip flops and run out the door. Also, I just love the way things feel on your bare toes.
2. Fresh Herbs...One of my first posts I mention my favorite thing. Tomato, Basil and Mozzarella. Soon I will be back to the store bought variety instead of my fresh basil and tomatoes. Not as pretty and costs more..sad face.
3. Walking out in the fresh air. Ok, I'd admit I didn't do as much walking because it was WAY to hot, but it's the fact that I can do it..if I wanted. This one will really work out until early November.
4.Pool time with Molly. Molly loves the pool(so does our other four legged baby)! My parents said I was such a water baby and I had hoped to have one myself. I never wanted her to be afraid of the water, especially since we have a pool. Some people say that if you blow in a baby's face they hold there breath and you can dunk them underwater. Seems a little traumatic for me and I am scared to do anything that might make her not like the pool. So for now we just float :)
5. Longer days..this year I am loving the long days. Last year was a different story. About this time I was in the last trimester of my pregnancy and I can remember saying to B "If it wasn't light out I would be in bed right now". Did I mention this was at oh, about 6:00?? As I right this, I am realizing that it's a little harder to take advantage of daylight until 9:00 when my daughter goes to bed at 7:15. Oh well, it's still something to enjoy!
Everyone enjoy the last of summer, because it is definitely flying by!
