On my mind..

1. The fact that my sweet little girl will be a year old in 36 days. Sometimes I still look at her and wonder to myself "where the heck did you come from?".

2. We are 1 day shy of October. Where did the summer go??

3. Hokie football. I haven't been to a game in so long and I am kinda itching to go to one and tailegate like a college student with no responsibility.

4. Speaking of college students with no responsibility, remember when people used to say things like "College is the best time" and "You can't get that time back". When you are in college you think those old people saying things like that are just annoying and weird. Now I am that old person and i think things like that ALL THE TIME.

5. As I am writing this that sweet little girl who I mentioned in number 1 is trying to climb out of her crib instead of napping. By the way, I don't think the crib goes any lower than the notch it is set up on now.

6. Not much else because now I have to go get said sweet little girl before she throws herself over the crib.

It's almost the weekend..Happy thursday!

Frame It

I mean, is that not just the coolest thing? They are framed shopping bags! I love this idea, now if only I had the resources to shop at some of the above places to obtain a nice little shopping bag. Note to self: Make enough money to create this wall one day :) Although, it does make a nice statement that they are Chanel and Tiffany shopping bags, but any other bag from your favorite shops would be cute. All your favorite locally owned shops would maybe?

Let's Go....

HOKIES!!
Check out my little cheerleader

Not the greatest quality, but the little bugger won't stay still!

Five Faves

Macadamia Healing Treatment: I finally found this after reading this post (note: it wasn't as CVS in my city, but it was at JCPenney salon). I am being a little presumptuous with it on my faves before use, but it smells heavenly and I have high hopes.

The Vampire Diaries: This is how I get my vampire fix when True Blood is off. One of my best friends watches it also and I am pretty certain after every episode I text her and say "I loooove Damon".

Simon Cowell: I quite like him. I am so happy he is back on TV.

Adele: Just downloaded the album. LOVE.

Soup: B always makes fun of me because every year around this time I get really into soups. Most of them I try to make are complete bombs, but for some reason I just keep trying. Oh, and did I mention the other person I cook for is really not a big fan of soup? The deck is already stacked against me before I even turn the burner on.

Happy Friday!

Except it's Saturday and I wrote this post yesterday during Molly's nap..and then she woke up and I completely forgot to post! So pretend it's yesterday :)

As of yesterday, B and I have been together for 12 years. Talk about a long time! I am not sure if it's a good or bad thing, but it doesn't seem like it has been 12 years since we first started our relationship. I started to scan a picture from Homecoming circa 1999, but I decided I really didn't want any picture circa 1999 of me on the web. Bangs, unruly curly hair and braces oh my.

So instead I wanted to post a 12 year later picture, you know what we've become, which is parents to a daughter who I hope does not inherit my unruly hair and need for a lot of dental work. Actually, maybe she should inherit some of that..I didn't turn out so bad and what's that saying.."what doesn't kill you makes you stronger?".

Although, as I type this I realize I just did what I always feared, which was to define us as parents. I remember when I was pregnant with Molly one of my big fears was that B and I would lose "us" and become Mom and Dad. Once Molly was here it was really hard for me to adjust to it not being just us since it had been for 11 years. I loved my little girl with all my heart, but I wasn't sure if I was ready to share the other love of my life. Nights when she would actually sleep and I should have been sleeping I felt like I didn't want to sleep because I so desperately wanted to have dinner and watch tv with my husband. I look back and realize it was actually a small fear, and a large amount of hormones. Change isn't always a good thing and is sometime hard to adjust to, but this was definitely an amazing change in our life and one I am so thankful for because I think it has made our relationship tronger. So, since I strayed a lot from my original thought..here are we now happy as ever :)

Note: I thought this candid picture was funnier than a perfectly posed one.

Also, a happy birthday to my now Florida girl! Her and her husband just moved to Florida for his work, he's the weather man..pretty cool huh?

Pinterest Morning

I just love colored tights! Even though, I've never tried this look I think I am going to this year. It is such an inexpensive way to update an old skirt. Also, loving that necklace.

I mean, this was just made for me. I don't really know what it is about cute owls, but I just love it.

This is just plain adorable. Too bad, Cameron would probably knock Molly out with this one.

I have really been into painted furniture recently and love this jade green looking color. And the gold mirror, perfect!

Shout out

Today's post is dedicated to my very best friend of 25 plus years (I say this because I am not exactly sure how old we were when we met) who is celebrating her birthday today. As I have gotten older I have realized that it really isn't the quantity of relationships you have but the quality. It's always good to know a lot of people I suppose, and have friends to be social with, but for me I've just gotten to the point where quality relationships are the ones I want and will take the time to nurture. Sometimes, being in a relationship whether it's a marriage, friendship, or family member takes work Side Note: this coming from Dr. Laura Berman the sex/relationship therapist from OprahRadio, which I listened to on the way to Charlotte this weekend. Interesting, I must say. So long story short, this relationship has had its ups and downs and we have made it through a lot of hard times together and I know that whenever we are together it's like no time has past (since we live several hours away, we don't see each other as often). So, onto the top 10 reasons why I love my best friend and celebrate her today...

1. She is ALWAYS willing to dance and up for a good time.

2. If it happened when we were 10, she remembers it...all of it.

3. Contagious Laugh

4. Huge animal lover

5. She isn't a huge shopper, but she usually will suck it up and go with me. Trust me, that says a lot.

6. She loves movies. She is just as excited about the Lion King 3D as I am. In fact, my first time away from Molly was out to a movie with my BF.

7. She is one of those people who will be completely honest with me. If something looks fabulous she will be the first one to compliment, and if she;s not a fan won't beat around the bush.

8. She loves my daughter and four legged baby like they were her own. And she loves Brandon, but I am pretty sure not like her own :)

9. When I recenly got bad news and she was in town for a family event, she immediately left and came over.

10. She knows 25 years worth of things good or bad about me and is still there for me 100%.

11. Oh and one more..she's beautiful inside and out :)

Also, she requested pics of the babies...

note: sorry cameron looks like a demon..it's the only recent one that was decent.

So long red wall...

First, let me say I am not painter, but I was certainely not going to pay someone to paint one wall in my house. So I bucked up and here are the results...

Before

and After...I love it already :)

By the way my sweet little girl comes home tomorrow! My mother in law sent me a video today, but I can't get it on my computer. It made my day.

Friday Funny + some other fun links

This weekend Molly is headed to Georgia with her Grandparents to see her Great Grandparents and meet her Great Aunt and Uncle for the first time. I almost didn't let her go, because I am certain she will walk or talk in complete sentances while she is gone. I am aware I am being a little dramatic, but she will be gone until Tuesday! Anyway, back to the funny. Molly was originally going to be with her dad all weekend while I went to my best friends baby shower in Charlotte and the other day I was thinking about this e-mail story that my mother in law sent to me and just picturing a couple years from now.

A Cup of Tea

One day my mother was out and my Dad was in charge of me.

I was maybe 2 and 1/2 years old and someone had given me a tea set as a gift and it was one of my favorite toys.

Dad was in the living room engrossed in the news when I brought him a cup of tea, which was just water. After several cups of "tea"and lots of praise for how yummy my tea was my mom came home.

My dad made her wait in the living room to watch me bring him a cup of tea because it was just the cutest thing. Mom waited and sure enough here I came down the hall with a cup of "tea" for Daddy and she watched him drink it up.

And then she said (as only a mother would know) "Did it ever occur to you that the only place she could reach for water is the toilet?"

Just a little something for all your Hokie alumni out there to look forward to.

Adorable baby shower idea! Definitely bookmarking this one.

Happy Wednesday

Little miss Molly and I will be heading to Target today to check out the new Missoni line. I've already stalked the website and it takes about 10 minutes to actually get to it. Several of the things I am liking are sold out on the website, but I am hoping they are in stock at the store. Here are a few of the pieces I am in search of

This dress with the boots previously posted. Easy, put together outfit for busy mom.

Sweet Dress for the little one

I think it's pretty obvious which pattern I like.

What's Happening

Instagram! I think I may be a little late to the party, but I just love it! Check it out...

B and I think it looks like a photo from the 70's.

Two weekends ago we traded in one of Molly's many toys at Babies 'R Us for a new car seat. She picked it out all by herself. OK, so we just sat her in the ones we couldn't decide between and gauged her reaction. Anyway, I am hoping this will change her feelings about car riding since I am pretty sure she is officially too big for the infant one. It can't be adjusted any bigger. I can't believe how fast she is growing!

In TV news, I am devastated that True Blood is over. I just don't know how I'll make it to Summer 2012 without my weekly dose of vampires, specifically Eric Northman. Oh wait, my other vampire show is coming on..Vampire Diaries anyone??

My other baby

Since Molly arrived I feel like I have been neglecting my first born a little bit. Just giving him a shout out :)

It's hard to see but this is his gameday VT bandana.

*Notice the massive water bowl behind him...that's Molly's favorite toy. She does not like when you tell her she can't splash around in the dog's water bowl. Actually she doesn't like it when you tell her she can't do something period.

Holidays are among us...

Before Molly, B and I always talked about things we looked forward to as parents.

Note: I am pretty sure I asked the obnoxious question "What are you most excited about?" weekly. For a man I think once is fun, but after oh maybe the 10th week, it becomes a little bit like the girly "what are you thinking?". One of the main things we both said was getting to experience all those fun and amazing childhood things that you really just can't get back as an adult. This picture made me think of how I would probably NEVER have thought to get this Halloween crazy until my sweet little girl came into the picture. So, just a few other holiday things that are so amazing as a child and I cant wait to experience through Molly...

  • Trick or Treating...when she knows what's going on. Ofcourse she will be dressed up until then, but I think when she really gets it will be better. Again, I am ignoring the part where I will be escorting for Trick or Treating until who knows what age and trying not to think people have poisioned their candy and my child. Remember you parents not letting you eat any until they had checked all of it? What torture!

  • Christmas morning...the obvious. No ofcourse I am not going to spoil my child with everything she wants...well at least that is the plan. Anway, it's not even the present part. It's the anticipation of Christmas and all that goes with it. For me it was always the festivities and excitement (ok I'm lying, I loved the present part too, what kid doesn't?), visiting family and decorating with my Mom and Granny.

  • Fourth of July Fireworks...Not real sure if she will be one of those children who screams bloody murder for fireworks or thinks it's the greatest thing ever. Just incase you were wondering she has never seen fireworks because we were those people in bed at 8:00. Also griping to each other that the fireworks were too damn late. PLEASE DON'T WAKE THAT CHILD LOUD BOMB LIKE NOISE!

Love these

These were so made for Molly's 1st birthday!! Will definitely be purchasing from Etsy.

Storytime:

When I was decorating Molly's nursery I found this owl print at Target.
I sent it to my girlfriends to see if it was cute or tacky nursery art. One replied with something like this "I love it, and soon Molly can talk to her owl friends". Ever since I decorated her room I have a little obsession with cute owls and birds, incase you haven't been able to tell that just by reading my blog.

Fall Must Have #4

So I made it through all of last fall and winter without buying a new pair of boots. This year I already ordered one from Zulily and after a girl at my work wore a pair in to work I couldn't resist. A high, low comparison from Target...

Target $34.99

My only concern is sometimes Target shoes (other than sandals) can be a little uncomfortable.
The High can be found here. From Nine West, the Mariola in dark natural leather for $179.00.

I feel like the Target may be a little more in my budget, but a girl can dream. Also... it would be an investment, right? Wrong, says the hubs.

Kisses

This afternoon we had a first. I was rocking and chatting (obviously very one-sided) with Molly before her nap today, when she shoved her face to mine with a big open mouth. My initial reaction was to giggle and ask "What are you doing?", but then I realized she was giving me a kiss! So when I asked her to do it again, she did the same thing. Slobbery and open mouthed like before, which I've heard is common for babies.

Ofcourse, when I asked her to do it later she ignored me, BUT I asked her to give her bear a kiss and she about took his nose off.

Still a work in progress...

Buddies and Fall TV

Just checking things out this morning.

In other news, Fall TV is back!! I was so excited for my favorite show to come back on and what happens when I go to watch it on my DVR. I see they have RUINED it! If you have been one of the few people actually reading you know how much I love The Talk. Today I turn it on and see that Leah Remini AND Holly RObinson Peete are gone! Naturally I google this immediatley and find out they were both let go. Both supposedly said via Twitter it was for unknown reasons, but ofcourse through other websites it has gossip about why they were let go. Either way, I presonally think it was a bad, bad, move. I watched today to give it a try (and because Giada de Laurentis was on) and I won't be watching again. It was erased off my DVR timer. I am very interested to see what happens with this show because all the websites I saw were agreeing with me, we shall see.

Other shows I am looking forward to are:

Ringer: new on the CW with Sarah Michelle Gellar. Loved her on Buffy the Vampire Slayer and I will definitely be tuning into this one.

Up all Night: with Christina Applegate and Will Arnett. A couple with a newborn..looks awesome :)

The Good Wife: Cannot wait to see what happens with Will and

Long Weekend Update

Happy Labor Day everyone! It's a rainy day here, so no pool for these folks. Our long weekend was definitely filled up.
Friday night Brandon and I took Molly to eat at the Homeplace, a family style restaurant that we thought would be easy enough to take Molly to since they bring the food almost immediately. Not so much. We had been seated for a mere 5 minutes before she yanked the paper place mat and almost sent a plate flying acrosst the room (Thank goodness Mom's pretty quick here). The days of lingering over our peach cobbler and decaf coffee are O-V-E-R. It was somebody's bedtime.

This night also spawned a funny story:
Before dinner I was kind of in a grumpy mood and B said "You know my mom used to have this magnet I hated that said "When mom ain't happy aint' nobody happy" and damned if it ain't true." This made me laugh and my mood changed. Then later that night walking into the restaurant he asked if I stepped on his golf club in the backseat and I told him I didn't even see it. To that he says (partly to Molly) "Well if something happened to it, Dad would not be happy. And you know what they say "If dad aint' happy, nobody gives a sh*t." Which sadly, I am sure more dads would agree is true. Poor dads, they do so much and get little credit sometimes.
Speaking of Dad's doing so much, I got to take a little trip to see my newest "niece" (by niece I mean one of my best friends babies) and  got to see two of my other best friends as well.
Little Bit was here with her Dad and he finally realized what I have been telling him for awhile now..He is easy and I am pretty certain Molly will end up really disliking me one day. I am also pretty certain that one day I will NOT be saying "Wait until your father comes home" because he is already showing signs on being putty in her hands.

Baby Helen..tiniest and sweetest thing ever.

Five Faves

From House of Turquoise, this amazing bed would be an easy way to add some color into your room.

How could you not be happy unloading the dishwasher in this kitchen?
These would really dress up my outfit as of lately..jeans and a t-shirt.

Oh and add these to the above :)

Welcome Home!

You Are My I love You

Love Love Love this!

Will be printing it from here and looking for a white frame to put in M's room.
